Dvorak has enoughmatch covers to decorate one wallof his two-room home.His collection of the matchbooksover 1600 — comes from nearlyevery state in the union.“I started collecting matchbooksAbout 10 years ago.'’ the Czechoslovakian-born American exiplained. “People sent many of them to me.“I used to smoke . . smoked mostof my life, but awhile ago I justdidn’t feel like it anymore.Some of the covers have promotion and advertising slogans such as “There’s a future for women in the telephone business”, “Loose your troubles here” (for a tavern) or “Join the U.S. Army”.Others have pictures of dogs,leggy girls or advertisements fornight clubs and beer. All in all,it’s quite a complete collection'strung up on two frames with some 57 covers to a row.And being in the ranks of thenon-smokers won't dampen Dvorak’s enthusiasm for adding to hiscollection.Dvorak has one son, Leo, who! lives at 612 Eighteenth avenue SW in Cedar Rapids.*********PETER J.
