• •Tilings I T11in 1cBY, ’‘BUB” (THE OWL.) j1• : •Didn't get a chance to put in a word last week about Cayuga's Free Picinc, but it was a hummer. It cost a lot of money to stage it, too, but what do we care. Cayuga believes in a policy of “live and let live,” and be happy if you can. That the free picnic at the park was a sure winner. That the donors and workers and committees all deserve praise tor their generosity. That the park is on the boom and our town otticials deserve praise torthe improvements at the park. Allright, boys, keep up the good work and the owl will stop all the jays hooting at you.Have been trying to figure out how an editor mght be both rich and happy. The old saying ran: “My home iswhereever my hat’s otf”, but it strikesus that home is where the bill collector tinds us.What a difference when everybody agrees and are of one accord. We would not forget to praise the band boys, for they also deserve a lot of praise. Next summer we will have two bands—unless they fall down. They are all doing fine, with the exception of Clara and ' Maude. They ought to trade horns on account of their lungs. Clara is too strong for her horn and Maude is too weak for hers. Therefore a change would be o. k.Wonder what’s the matter with i Dana. She must still be celebrating the 4th of July. It gave me a severe “stitch” in the back when I read in the J. Jordon news that Dana had decided to use the money they made outof the 4th of July celebration to give us a horseshow. Those Ashmore fellers played ball like a “house afire”. They wanted that 5 dollar bill of Dan Schriner— and they got it.Those pesky weeds along our side streets and back lots and allies—if the town marshal wont cut them, the night man ought to be pressed into service. It would be too bad if those Dana horse show boosters date the show during our pshawtalkawav week. But don’t believe they will, ’cause they will be counting on Cayuga to come down'by the hundreds -every fellow with at least “two bits” spending money.A boost for the big tent meeting down in the park—week Sept. I to 6 —is a boost for the town, a boost for your business and a boost for your home. And while we are passing compliments we would not forget P. J. Watson and Paul Samuels and Gussie Frazier, the cook, and others, for the banquet. It was sure a swell supper. We had chicken, fish, gravy, bread, pickles, butter, salads, coffee, oranges and bananas, cream, lemonade and ice cream and in fact other things too numerous to mention. To make a long story short, we all had a fine time and a good supper and all went home before one o’clock 2x2, except the owl and he had to go lxl. Those present were: Joe Sollars, Ida Ashley, Clarence Sprouls, Farmer Adams. Clara Carsman, Opal Harrison. Percy Pugh, Lacy Harrison, Leland Dunker-1 v, Paul Samuels, Ruth Littler. Carl Congleton, Leon Samuels, Clara Davis, Perry Watson, Paul Craig, Everett Billman, Esther Jackson, Grace Frazier, Augusta Frazier, the cook, and last, but not least, the owl.“I don’t know, dad, what’s up; seems as if everybody is getting good.” “Keep quiet, Jimmy, the summer is not over vet.”
