Next week, E. P. Dutton A Co. will publish “ The Spirit of Komanee, by Ezra Pound. The principal subjects of this volume are the Troubadours of Provence, the Cestea, Dante and his predecessors. Villon, Lope de Vega, and Camoens. The book im said to be a glad, lighthearted, yet scholarly and accurate appraisement of the medieval poets, full of the Joy of living which they sang, and Interpreting by frequent paraphrase and translation their happy presentation of sheer beauty which our ignorance of their language and their work prevents ua from enjoying without such assistance. In his preface the author says: “ The aim of the present work is to Instruct—Its ambition is to instruct painlessly.
