A large , number • of Bohemians arrived from Califorhia a' week ago,: They, wero shown every courtesy by the California exhibitors,: who established Lead quarters for /the visitors ; in' - the state building Here imany congregated and renewed friend^ ships made in the fatherland.;The: swarms :of Bohemians began toarrive as soon as the parade was over .down town, and they came; in such crowds that the hearts ofthe exposition officials were filled with joy. The first thing on the programme was/ Speech making at festival hall* The address of the day was made by Charles Jonas, : lieatenant-governor of Wisconsin/ The. speaker described, the present political situation^ ifi\ Bohemia and related the grievances of her people% There were other speeches after which a concert consisting exclusively of/Bo-, kemian music, was rendered. 'Antonio Dvorak, *' the * famous Behennan. com^., poser, who recently arrived in this country :was presented, and conducted his own compositions; ,ThA .-.hall . was completely tilled and the' audience joined is singing their .national./airs. Following these exercises the Sokol societies gave an athletic exhibition in the stock pavilion participated: in by ; 300 athletes. . .. Second in magnitude in the events .of the day was the exercises of the Independent Order of- Foresters. Theyi parade•down town; They came, to the/fairtoo, like the Bohemians, gave a paradeprincipally by way pf, lake steamer3, and as soon as they arrived they took possession of festival hall .. where the. celebration was continued. Speeches were by John F* Finerty andFrank Walker/-. After / the . speech; . making the Chicago Band gave a short concert. The- ceremonies. were .in celebration of .the fifteenth anniversary of the order, and the liberal .turnout of the members showed . the wonderful. strength of the/organization/ The celebration vvifl be complete td-hight when a grand .display of fire works/will be given- Tnere are many beautiful pieces to be set off* including emblems of the Independent Order .of Foresters and the 'National Bohemian, colors,: All; of the buildings are to open and .will be illuminated and the electric fountains will play; • ./.
