Her education was acquired in the schools of her home town, at the Glenn Dillard Gunn school Music, and Howard and Oberlin Universities. She was the first girl student to receive the degree of bachelor of music from Howard. For three years, 1925, 1926, and 192?, she won the Julliard Foundation scholarship.In May, 1927, she became the bride oi the composer, William L. Dawson, director of music at Lincoln High school, Kansas City, Mo. The couple moved ini#- Chicago, after a short honeymoon, and had planned to tour Europe, tp further their studies, when Mrs. Dawson's i.llness inter* rupted.The body was shipped from Chicago, to Greenville, for interment.oOo
