Mrs. Jasper Hester, or1 Union township cailcd the the TIMES-RBPUI3LICAN office Tuesday morning and ordered the invitation tarda printed and within the next few days they will be sent out to the members of the Hester family who live In almost every state of the Union. The Hester reunion is held every year on Labor Day and is one of thp largest in the star*’.When good roads were Mill a* scarce In Indiana as brick streets are In Brown county three brothers, John. James and Joseph Hester came to what is now Shelby county and set tied in Union township. The trip was made in large canvas covered wagons and frequent fkirraishes along the route with Indians composed a part of the proceedings every day But all three arrived safely and lived to ee the desolate region admitted as a state in 1810. In those dayu the respected admonition, “Woodman spare that tree was a thing unbwn of and ere many days bad elapsed after the arrival of the three brothers had const meted a house hewn from the logs from the foreBt. By dint of hard work and tireless energy the brothers accumulated a considerable amount of this worlds goodB and in time the term “prosperous farmer * would have applied to them very appropriately. And the success that attended the efforts of the three brothers has continued into later years and the members of the Hester family no matter where they live are ail in a prosperous condition. In the reunions that ere hold each year many members of the family come several hundred miles and last year members of the family came frozn Kansas, Illinois and other states to be in attendance. Several members of thlt;» family also live in California and Tex as. but it is aot known whether they will attend this year or not One of tlte special feature of the program this year will be an address by Mrs. May Puckett Foster, of Kokomo. Mrs .FVjster was also present last year and delivered an address. Many members of the family are from Shelby, Rush and the adjacent counties will attend the eventS.
