It was with regret that Mr. and Mrs. Spidell, due to health reasons and age were not able to be present but he sent a video for all to see and hear.Richard Halwas, on behalf of the group, expressed thanks to Gary and his committee for their work in organizing this reunion. Tours of the Activity Centre and the new school were enjoyed by many. The group then gathered at the Centennial Hall for Happy Hour until a delicious roast beef supper with all the trimmings was served to 325 people by the Hungry Haven Restaurant from Russell.The lively music of the “Country Road from Shoal Lake kept the crowd dancing until the week hours of the morning. Much reminicsing and meeting of spouses took place during the evening. There were also prizes for many special people such as: person coming the longest distance, student with most grandchildren, with most children, twins, students married the longest, tallest and shortest student, etc.Sunday morning dawned bright and sunny when a large crowd gathered at Asessip-pi Beach for the church service. Gary again welcomed the group and then turned the service over to two former students now in the ministry, Marvin Ziprick of Edmonton who conducted the service and delivered an inspiring sermon on “Old Friends” John 15:13-15 assisted by Ken Gaber of Roblin reading the scriptures. Eric Bezo of St. Catherine’s with his guitar supplied the music for the hymns. A lovely outdoor service was enjoyed by all.Following the service the Hungry Haven served a tasty cold plate to 375 people.The time to say farewell came all too soon. Many fond memories will be carried with the students and teachers to all parts of Canada from BC to Nova Scotia.
