The ladies home and foreign mission-*arv societies of the Methodist churchorganized a surprise party for Mrs. ('. L. Stafford and Mrs. Belle Coddington last evening. They were both enter; tained for tea at the home of Mr. andMrs. W. S. Mitchell, on North Main street, where their friends found them. They were each presented with a handsome silver berry spoon as a remember-ance of Mt. Pleasant friends. Both these estimable ladies are soon to leave the city, much to the regret of our peo-! pie.A well attended meeting of the Sunday school board of the Methodist church was held Monday evening and considerable business was transacted I• IWill Mitchell resigned his place as librarian, and Miss Axie Lute was elected to the position, she had hither-1 to been assistant librarian. Mrs. Belle Coddington, who has been teacher of the infant class for a good many years, j has resigned the position, as she is soon | to move to Ottumwa. Miss (iussie M. j Evans, who has been assistant teacher j for some time, was elected teacher of j this large class, and Miss Margaret Hurnop was elected assistant. Miss; Vesta Pickets, having to hi* away much j of the time, Miss Mary Evestone was W *elected organist. Dee A. Stocker was elected teacher in place of Miss Myrtle | Jacobs, who resigned.
