Gebauer House In Old Town Declared Historic' Steven D. Schmitt was presented a plaque in recognition of the home he is living in located at 107 North Main Street, at the annual Troy Historical Society meeting and dinner.The home, which most know as the Gebauer Home, is a long standing landmark in old towifTruy.The stalely two story structure is surrounded by large trees on the west side. It is and always has been a very well kept home.Lot Historyit hasn't been determined fust when the Gebauer House was built, but through some research, it is believed it was,built in 1880 or 188! hy Jacob Gebauer. It is located lt;m the SVt of lots I 2 of the J. G. Jarvis Addition. It was platted by John G. Jarvis.Jarvis sold the lots to Thomas Judy in June of 1849.Judy and his wife, sold the premises to James H, Taylor in September of 1853.In 1854, Taylor sold the place to L. R. Comman.Later in September of 1857 (the year Troy was incorporated) Cornman sold it to Andrew Kimberlin.Kimberlin sold it to George Churchill in Oct of 1857.At (his point the abstract is unclear and apparently Churchill sold it back to Kimberlin.Kimberlin died in January 1873 leaving it to his only heirs, Margaret (Mrs. Charles) Edwards and Charles B.
