MdiiAumnuiiuiThat Wounded Rider At FairIItThe bullet which struck a 13-ycar-old race horse exorcise boy in the right temple al Fcrndale last Monday was fired by Rasmus Nielson, 05, a visitor to that area, according to an admission obtained yesterday’by Ferndale police and sheriff’s deputies.Nielsen, who had at first reportedly disclaimed any knowledge of the shooting during first questioning Monday, is a carpenter from Chicago who is visiting relatives at Fcrndale.Wounded in the peculiar mishap was Michael Peacock of Bonanza, Oregon, who slumped forward in the- saddle of the horse he was riding at the lime. Others who assisted him from the-animal found the .22 calibre slug embedded in his skull.Nielsen, deputies state, said he had fired a shat at a cat on a fence. The bullet struck and killed a sheep nearly a hundred yards away then ricocheted 125 yards al a 90-degree angle and si ruck Peacock. The shot was fired from outside of the fairgrounds.The only charge which immediately could be placed against Rasmus Peter Nielsen, sheriff’s deputies said, was that of firing a weapon inside the city limits of Fcrndale, a violation of the city ordinance and a misdemeanor. He was released .on SoOG hail, to appear in For tuna justice court at a later date.Meanwhile, young Peacock was still in county hospital, where surgeons plan to remove the bullet lodged in his skull today or tomorrow.
