DESCENDANTS PIONEER METHO-DIST MINISTER MEET AT CONFEDERATE PARKA reunion of tile descendants of j Rev. ■ John Carpenter and Mrs. Elizabeth Horn Corpenter was held at the Confederate Park Thursday, with about forty members of the J Tarnily present.Three ;'of those present came to Texas in 1S52. Two of these, J. j M. Carpenter, of Belton, route 6, j nnd Mrs. Lou F. Holcomb, of Midway, are the only surviving son and I daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Carpen-| rer. Mrs. Mollie Tee Carpenter is the only surviving daughter-in-law, and is also the only surviving member of a -party of 13 families who came from Tennessee in 1852,’ the same year in which the Carpenters j came from Kentucky. Mrs. Carpenter has other relatives born in Texas, but none who came to the State from Tennessee in 1S52.Mrs. Lou Holcomb lives on the same place where her parets made their home in 1853. -Mr. and Mrs. -Edward Lee, parents of Mrs. Mollie Carpenter, built their home on what became known as Kinney Hill, just south of the present Penlope Street bridge.Governor Thos. Ynrrell was hon-oree with the three members of the family. Mrs. Carpenter, Mrs. Holcomb rand Mrs. Mollie Carpenter.
