SHRUBBERY IN DANGERLadles Will Have to Don Their Fighting (laments Once More.Last spring when there were threats along the line that the ‘Shrubbery in the public square was liable to be grubbed out the ladies rallied to the defense of the flowering beauties and saved them. It seems the good ladles only secured a respite as there Is now talk In several quarters that the shrubbery is doomed.The plea is being put up that the shrubs (some of them ten feet high and not very sweet) are neglected; that the city gives them no attention; that they hare never been trimmed since they were set out; that they are obstructing the view across the public square. One of the knockers against the shrubs said that one of the things to do was to take them all out and refill with plants that can be trimmed into symmetrical forms and, have some person keep them that way. He also said that if the present plants cannot be trimmed that they should be dug up.The string for the ladles to pull is J lo see Street Commissioner Ballard and hare the plants given a shave and j a hair cut This would add very much ] to their appearance, in the opinion of some. This action. In all probability, would secure a stay of execution, as it did last spring.
