! REV. JOE COPEN1 THINKS HE DID GOOD BY PREACHING FROM DEVIL’S *-J TEA TABLE, f IPARKERSBURG. \V. Va.. Aug. t».— Rev. John Joe. Copen. the “cyclone exhorter ot West Virginia, who preached through a megaphone Sunday from the Devil's Tea Table in Wirt county, is more than pleased with the success of his novel experiment in bringing sinners to the throne of grace. Several thousand persons heard him expound the gospel from the mountain top and many were led to seek, forgiveness from their sins. The joint circus and sermons attracted persons who had never attended preaching before, and among these were some who were deeply impressed. I am deeply gratified. said Mr. Copen, “at the success of my mountain top meeting. It has proven to me that the people of this section can be reached in one way if not. another. I have preached in Wirt county for many years, and never have I had such a rousing meeting as I had Sunday. 1 knew that all one had to do to get the people interested was to give them some form of amusement. to provide something out of the ordinary attraction and they would come out.“All 1 want is the opportunity to talk with them and 1 can bear them the.message of salvation. My meeting, in spite of wliat carping critics may say of the circus feature, has accomplished a great deal of good. Many of those who heard my sermons have come to me and besought my prayers in their behalf.
