They are refugees from Greene county, black miners who fledfrom the wrath of the white miners of Linton. The negroes speak of the inhuman treatment received from thewhites, and some of them carry shotinto their bodies by the white miners. The colored men begged the managers of the coal company to arm them with Winchester rifles, promising to go downand wipe the white men out. The man* agers refused to take the responsibilityof sending- armed men to Linton. The men who returned to ihis city are caredfor by the eo/npany, but the chances for obtaining employment for them are slim. Thirty men were sent to Linton and only a part of them returned to Indianapolis.
