ROAD BLOCK AT STATE PARK IN PUT-IN-BAY DISAPPEARSA road block across (he entrance to State Park in Put-In-Bay was removed Saturday afternoon, following heated protests raised by residents who claimed that the South Bass Island reservation owned by the state was being reserved almost for the exclusive use of state officials.The charge was denied by V \V Flickinger. chief of the division of parks, department of natural resources, who declared that the road was closed two weeks ago to I keep out hot-rod drivers who were dashing through the park at from 30 to 40 miles an hour, endangering lives of people.He said a dirt road one-quarter ot a mile east of the entrance has been kept open, but admitted that the road was unmarked. He said the road will be improved for public use.Gov. Frank J. Lausche was in PuMn-Bay Friday, it was reported, but the purpose of his visit could not be learned. Several residents expressed belief that he had made informal inquiry into the park barricades, but this could not be confirmed.The barricades from the main entrance and a side road, were removed and placed on a state-owned truck at 2:15 p. m. last Saturday.At one time there were three barricades erected, residents said, but up to press time there were none blocking entrances to the park.It could not be learned who removed the road block Saturday, but islanders assumed that some mate employee did so, after z groups ot women stormed the caretaker’s cottage.
