CLAUD WELLS, Editor.PLYMOUTH PICNIC WASSPLENDID SUCCESS.Our Plymouth correspondent has written up the picnic in such spiemb'd style that we will refrain from repeating-, but will give our view of it from the standpoint of a visitor.Plymouth is situated in the heart of the finest farming country in the county, The farms are all clean and have the best and greenest looking crops to bo sc-on. 0(/,n] corn, cotton, feed, vegetables,etc., can be soon on both sides of the road and as far as the eye can see, Those people are certainly on the prosperous side of the ledger this year.The picnic there, last Friday was one of the most enjoyable affairs we have ever attended. Those people did their level best to make the event enjoyable and they certainly succeeded in their efforts. Plenty to eat anddrink, plenty of entertainment, plenty of hearty handshakes and welcome, and good shade. They had enough left, after all had eaten, to feed that many mure.Wellington turned out a big delegation and all who attended from this city are loud in praise of the splendid manner in which Plymouth treated them. The World War soldiers were the hoiWues of the event. Everything was free to them, and all the speeches made were in their honor. It was a great event, and we look forward to another just such a time next year. 0—In Washington the negroes are getting saucy, and the whites are receiving a ta^te of what the South has had to endure ever since the blacks came here, in the North, when a coon shows signs of prosperity, the said dark skin is called “Mr.” Smith or “Mr.” ./ones, and is entertained in the parlor. This has evidently gone to the head of the colored reccdpient to the head of the colored recipient has gotten the better of his judgment, with the result that he is craving still of so much attention, and his egotism more equality, and trouble, fast and furious, is happening up there. Water and oil will not mix—education and social equality are not good for the general welfare of the African population.—fVidueah Post.Next week is the big week in Canadian, the annual literary and musical week of the year, and everybody for fifty miles around will be expected
