Lamesa, Aug. 6,—After a sun rise breakfast served on courthouse lawn at Snyder the citizens, the third an motorcade party of the West as Chamber of Commerce on schedule time and arrived at Lamesa at noon. A party head ed by W. A. Wilson met the motorcade at the Cap Rock and escorted the party into town where a chicken barbecue was served to the entire motorcade. Judge Fritz R. Smith welcom ed the motorcade party to Snyder and President Bourland of Ver non thanked the citizens for the hospitality and co-operation. Judge Horace Holley assured all visitors that the present sheriff had been sent out of town but introduced Uncle Billie Nelson, the first sheriff of the county after it was organized in 1884. Cowboy Band on Trip The Simmons Cowboy band, the official band of the organiza tion, is making these a 32- passenger bus of the West Tex as Coaches that is in charge of C. E. Thornall, Jr., traffic man ager, and driven by Roy Trim mier. Members of the band making the trip: D. O. Willie, director, Abilene; Byron Kidwell, Millard Shaw, H. A. Anderson, Elmo Low and Clyde Roe, Abilene; J. C. Wilson, Clyde Evans, and Myrle Tucker, Anson; Elmer spears, Snyder; Emmett Howard, DeLeon; Roy Garrett, Merkel; Will Corder, Jayton; Willie Watts, Winters; Moody Logan, Colorado; Cleve Blackard, Snyder; Myron Corbin, Abilene; Estelle Patter son, Rotan; Adrain Crumpler, Anson; Roy Reeves, Matador, Richard Walker, Vernon, K. K. Kelly, and G. B. Sandefer, the manager of the band. Spend Night at Snyder A number of cars spent the night in camp at Snyder. Camp ing is to be the order of the day. A chuck wagon under the management of Col. R. L. Penick of Stamford and assisted by the cooks will feed the party en route. Besides President and Mrs. Bourland, Vernon, and Manager Wade, Exhibition Manager B. M. Whitaker and Publicity Manager Er. H. Hollis, San Angelo; Guy K. Glasscock, Fort Worth; M. K. Evans, Snyder; C. 8. Guin, Quanah; Kay and Bill Grif fin, Fort Worth; Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Ely, Snyder; Mr. and Mrs. Com Erell, Snyder; Mr. and Mrs. Sr. A. May, Snyder; Miss Alma Lee Jarvis, Wichita Falls; Miss Marjorie Whiteker, John and Bill Whiteker, Haskell; Mr. and J. N. and Vivian Key, Corpus Christi; Mrs. Dan Culver, Corpus Christi; Hal Duncan, Burnet. A short stop was made at Gail, where a band concert was given. Afternoon stops were made at Seminole and Lovington, N. M. State Officials Join Despite recent rains the roads are in splendid condition. Crop and range conditions were never wetter. It is estimated that Cav on county has 200 acres in cot ton this year that promises a maximum yield. There is a com pete absence of worms in this territory and sufficient moisture in the ground to care for cotton and feed for several weeks. Governor Moody, Rao Commissioner W. R. Ely, T. L. Gresham and Walter Ely, Jr., joined the motorcade at La mesa, W. A. Wilson, secretary of the local Chamber of Com merce, welcomed the motore party and W. Z. Rogers, superin tendent of schools, in Governor Moody to a crowd of about 4,000, gathered on the court house lawn to hear him speak. Senator-elect Pink L. Par rish of Lubbock made a short address to the crowd. The party of about 1 left at 1:30 for the nt at Carlsbad.
