Peaks Island has had ferryboat service all the year round for the past nine years, but Edgar E. Rounds, owner of the line that plies between this city and the island,. announces tnat one of the boats has been chartered by a motion picture concern and the other is being negotiated for to run elsewhere.If he disposes of the boats he will give up the serylce which he has biylt up in a few years and which hassled tq establishment of permanent residence on the island by many Portland people. They have been able to transport heavy freight and to get teams to the island at a reasonable cost on this line, a vast improvement over the methods hitherto in vogue, and his announcement of. the intention to discontinue the service puts all-the-year-round residents in a quan-^Summer travel is accommodated by either line, the Casco Bay or the ferry route, but a diminished service in winter makes residence for many who have business in the city far from convenient. Low passenger 'rates have been charged which has stimulated travel In the Summer season and competition drove theserates down to a low figure.Peaks Island has been a favorite Summer resort for 40 years, and this was the first Island to develop the tuurist trade and to develop as a popular seaside resort near the city.
