The day was a beautiful one and all nature seemed to altone with jov. lJy 0 u clock numerous carriages were swiftlyrolling out into the country, each load-ed to their fullest capacity. An hour later they pulled up at the new and beautiful cottage, just completed, and were heartily welcomed the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cook. After an earnest social chat of an hour or so, the grove near by furnished abundant recreation for the remainder pf the forenoon. At noon a sumptuous dinner was served, and abundant display of tho many good things was enough to excite the propensity of the faintest appetite. After dinner a trip to tho White Rock mounds was instituted. A drive of two miles brought us to tho foot of tho mounds; a zigzag ascent of another ua^ilo or two and we were on top from which we had an unlimited view of the surroundincr country. By the use of our lield glasses we could bring to distinct view Scan-, dia, Republic, Warwick, Hardy aiul Superior. That part of Soandia situated on tho hill was the plainest to the observer. Our curiosity being satistied from this point wo returned to Mr. Cook's where tho remainder of the day was passed amidst social greetings of the most entertaining spirit.
