One of the most pioasent socials it has been Unj pleasure of your correspon-dent to atlendTvrlis given by Mr. anil Mrs. Jerry Cook the first part of the week ut their homo near White Rock. The day was a beautiful one aiul all nature seemed to at tone with jov, By 9 unlock numerous carriages were swiftly rolling out into the country, each loaded to their fullest capacity. An hour later they pulled up at the now and beautiful cottage* just completed* and were heartily welcomed the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cook. After an earnest social chat of an hour or so, the grove near by furnished abundant recreation for the remainder of the forenoon. At noon a sumptuous dinner was served, and abundant display of the many good things was enough to excite the propen-i sity of the faintest appetite. After dinner a trip to the White Hock mounds was instituted. A drive of two miles brought us to tho foot of the mounds; a zigzag ascent of another in^ilo or two and we were on top from which wo had an unlimited view of the surroumlincr country. By the use of our Held glasses we could bring to distinct view Scan-, dia, Republic, Warwick, Hardy and Superior. That part of S.eandia situated on the hill was tho plainest to the observer. Our curiosity being satistied from this point wo returned to Mr. Cook's where tho remainder of the day was passed amidst social greetings of the most entertaining spirit.
