MUFFLER BLASTALARMS WOMENMrs. Thomas Mellady who lives in White county eleven miles northeast of Gtterbein, is recovering from injuries received Saturday night when she jumped from her. automobile fearing it was going to explode. She had been visiting relatives near Fox Den school in Wabash township this county, and was on her way home. As -he was about a mile from home the lighting wire on the car short-circuited and the lights went out. At the same time there was a loud explosion from the muffler. Mrs. Mellady leaped out of the machine which was going at full speed and landed in the road with great force. Her brother who had been riding with her and who had left her at his home a short distance away just before the accident happened heard the loud report and went to the scene of the accident where he found his sister unconscious. She remained in that condition for several hours. Dr. Ward A. Smith of Otterbein attended her and she is rapidly recovering from her injuries. The driver-less car went down a ditch andwas wrecked.—Journal-Cornier
