Three Auto Race Days Set For ’66 Clay County FairYou name U in the way of race track speed and chances are the Glay County Fair, September 12 to 18, will have your favorite — Indianapolis-suc Of-feys, midgets, modified stocks and Joio Chitwood’s auto thrill show,The closing three days of the Clay County Fair at Spencer have been designated auto race days with the powerful, open cockpit sprint cars of the International Motor Contest Association CiMCA) opening the program the afternoon of September 16,Drivers such as Jerry Kiekcrt of Forest Lake, Minn., the 'G4-*G5 sprint champ, and Jimmy Moughan of Springfield, 111., are among early entries with some 25 expected,Tliose surprisingly swift midgets take to the track the night of September 17 with the entry list resembling the midget division Who's Who. Dick Ritchie of Cedar Rapids, 1965 champion and Howard House, *61 champ from Kansas City, are returning.Modifieds will bring hometown flavor when many of the drivers from Jackson and Fairmont,Minnesota circuit race for oneof■the richest racing purses ever offered in this division the evening of September 16 and the afternoons of September 17 and 18.Joie Chitwood’s two-hour, 20-event thrill show featuring ’66 model Chevrolets will be the first such entertainment in several years at the Fair and will be the afternoon of the opening day, Sept. 12.Among the specialities of Chitwood^ drivers are a contest of end-over-end rolls and driving on two wheels. The star of the show, Al Gross, a world's champion, holds the record in the latter by balancing on two wheels for one mile. He also leaps in a car between ramps over three speeding autos and riding a motorcycle hurdles three parked cars.Tickets for these race track attractions go on sale August 15 in Spencer along with tickets for the teenage rock'n’roll show, the Hollywood Palace featuring the Osmond Brothers and George . Kirby, the ehuckwagon races, aTri-State Rodeo and a three-hour•-* •harness racing program.
