One of the colored women was robbed of her life savings. In all about $450 was secured and the men drove away in an automobile.The robbery at Whitesburg took place about 9 o’clock and Cheriff Shaffer was notified and Constable Boyd Richardson was sent to the scene. He investigated the occurrence there while Sheriff Shaffer had the roads guarded.Shortly before 11 o’clock one lone hold-up man appeared at a boarding camp near Dam 8 and held up a group of negro laborers at the point of a gun. He took all of their money and keeping them covered backed away.
