Longview, Aug. I.—Honoring W. F. Ryder, assistant to Vice-President and Manager J. D. Tennant, whose 43 years of service with the- Long-Bell Lumber Company, places him second in length of service only to R. A. Long, founder of the company, the company's logging town in northern Cowlitz county, in the Cougar Plat country, six miles southwest of Vader, has been, named Ryderwood.Mr. Long announced the name in the presence of officials of the company beneath the giant cherry tree in front of the former Jacob Schaffer residence, which now serves as a boarding house. Ir. Long emphasized the deep feeling of appreciation on the part of the officials for such long and faithful service by Mr. Ryder. A camp has already been established for the accommodation of the men who will be engaged in clearing the townsite and erecting buildings for the town, which will have 5000 population when the .logging operations of the company are .under full headway. .The company will erect 500 modern residences for the accommodation of employes.
