He will have some new’ machinery putin, and when everything is completed be ■will be able to make the best quality of flour.The store and dwelling on the Big Four road, commonly known as Manchester Station, burned ln9t Sunday. The fire started in the store, but was not discovered until a can of oil exploded, making a loud report, and by this time the whole of the interior of the building was in flames. The flames reached the dwelling, situated about ten feet from the store, and consumed that building; also a smoke house belonging to Ben Caulp, containing flour, meat and other provisions, was burned. The stor« and dwelling were insured in the German Mutual Insurance Company to the amount of $1,400, and John Hom-mersly, the proprietor, says that he will rebuild at once.Prof. Geo. E. Johnston, son of t'.e late Dr. W. H. Johnston, of Johnston Island, started last Monday on an extensive trip through the West and North. Prof. Johnston will combine pleasure with business and will be gone until he is ready to come home. He intends-to purchase a large track of land in Dakota Territory and hopeB for an opportunity to strike a bonanza interest in a gold mine in the mountain regipns, as to the pleasure part it will bo immense. He has promised to send to friends here, bears, rattlesnakes, injins and other wild critters too numerous lo mention, (He’ll kill’em dead.) Nothing will be forgotten on the Professor’s part to make this a terrible affair. Mr. Robert Milburn accompanied Prof. Johnston.
