WHITEFilm, television and radio star Desi Arnaz became sole owner of Corona Breeding Farm yesterday when he dis-tsolved a .partnership with Earl Mitchell Sr. by purchasing the noted trainer’s interest in the Rincon Road farm.Arnaz farm manager, Char-lie Zoeller, said: “The farmwill continue with the same operation but on a higher level. Mr. Arnaz plans to enlarge his string of studs and acquire a better group of brood mares.” Arnaz is at Del Mar Race Track with his stable of thoroughbreds. The string is headedby ilndian Wells, Corona Don and two-year-old Nashaway, who is given a good chanceof hitting the handicap class.Zoeller added, “Mr. Arnaz has sold off a lot of his cheaper horses and intends to improve the quality of the string”.Arnaz and Mitchell have op-erected Corona Breeding Farm in partnership for the past three years. Mitchell moved his stock to a ranch in Tipton, which is owned by his sister.Mitchell served as trainer.for Arnaz’ stable and his own string of horses. Jimmy Jordan, who operates a public.stable, has been engaged to-handle the Arnaz string. Jordan is now running a string of 30 horses at Del Mar.According to Zoller, Arnaz has now virtually retired fromshow business, lie maintainsresidences at Corona Breeding Farm, in Del Mar and in Palm Springs and spends most of histime at the races, golfing orfishing.Corona Breeding Farm isone of the largest operationsin the area. Stud fee for Nashville is $3,500 while Our Rulla’s stud fee is $750. Nashville won $130,000 for Llangollen Farm while racing as a two and three-year-old.Zoeller said that more than 85 ouside mares come through the farm each year for breeding purposes.
