The last arrest made at West Baden was that of Dr. John A. Ritter jr., who is charged with leasing a room to be used for gambling purposes. No one has yet heard of Sinclair Rhodes being arrested on the same charge. Why this discrimination? Is Prosecutor Branaman and others afraid to tackle the “big thing” or did the Sentinel tell the truth when it charged him with “standing in on the play.” It seems to us that proof sufficient could be found to conyict them. The contract itself would do that, and they could not offer an excuse that they didn’t know what the room was being used for.
