Edidin, WMS executive vice president. The company is working to fix the problem in its machines across the country, he said. The Illinois Gaming Board ordered the shutdown Thursday night. Gaming Board spokesman Gene O’Shea said there is no evidence that anyone in Illinois cheated one of the machines.-WMS slots represent about 13.5 percent of the machines on the nine Illinois riverboats, O’Shea said.Edidin would not comment on how or where the machine was manipulated. But Nelson Westrin, executive director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board, said earlier this week that workers at Detroit’s MotorCity Casino first discovered the problem. They reported that players could insert a bill, say $20, then jam the bill acceptor on the slot machine. Players then would attempt to insert another bill, say another $20. The machine would reject that bill — but still credit them for the cash.WMS Gaming, based inWaukegan, is the second-largestslots manufacturer in the country, with 15 percent to 20 percent of the market.
