“An Evening of Absurdities will be presented by the drama club of the freshmen-sopho-more division of Bloom high school. Four student - written one-act plays will be presented in the Little Theatre of thefreshmen-sophomore divisionFriday and Saturday at 8 p.m.The program will begin withJuliet Chinn's “Suicide: Everyone Should Try It Once.” The story is about two 16-year-olds trying to discover what life is. Wilhelmina will be played by-sophomore Lynn Varallo, while freshman Jeff Bentley will protray Felix.Other characters appearing in “Suicide are Howard' Plo-mann, Cindy Giannetti and Frankie Narcisi. The play will be directed by Madelyn Narcisi.SECOND ON the program will be “Tapioca Pudding written by Nick Marzano. Cathy Johnson directs this play about a 16-year-old boy and his struggle to cope with life’s problems, the chief of which is having privacy in his own room.WThe part of Arthur Neesley will be played by Max Hansen, and Virginia Kinister will play his sister, Deb. Other members of his family will be played by Karen Martin, Scott Lowry and Mieke VanderVaart.Members of the bridge club, Juliet Chinn, Michele Folta, andStephanie Hlavach, along with plumber Crystal Smith, add comedy to this play. Other characters in “Iapioca Pudding will be portrayed by Mike Kuthenbeck, Keith Ellison and Mark Kuthenbeck.“My Play,” a satire onShakespeare’s “Julius lt;ae-sar, was written by Paul Snyder. Those portraying the legendary characters areMax Hansen, Janis Whitfield, Steve Byrns, Phylice Newsome, Cherry Washington, Juliet Chinn, Keith Ellison and Paul Snyder. The play will be directed by Margaret McGee.THE FINALE of the evening's program will be NickMarzano's play, “Zephyr.” Ttinvolves two young people, Benjamin and Laura, and tells a story about the unhappiness life can bring. The two teenagers will be played by author NickMarzano and by Kathy Hughes. Carolyn Cosentino is the director.The best of these four plays will be selected for presentation in “Showcase ’70” on May 8, 9 and 10 in the auditorium of the junior - senior building. Todd Harrison is faculty member in charge of the freshman-sopho-more production. This program marks the first time that such an all-student presentation has been made at Bloom.
