BRIEF COMMENT ABOUT PEOPLEAND EVENTS IN IOWA(Originated by J. W. Jarnagin)For the first time in their history since they became wards of the white man, the Sac arid Fox Indians of the Tama county reservation have their own court. The Indians have always previously appeared in the white man’s courts. Now under a new code set up by the federal government they will take care of their own troubles. George Young Bear presided over the first session under a federal appointment as judge. The court is conducted in the Mesquakie language and professional lawyers are barred. Young Bear is a Haskell Institute Graduate.
