The lady at the hotel switch board was very cordial, since she was used to getting a few calls from folks left over from the Glen Miller days.I just recently discovered that the telephone company bolds out a few dummy numbers. Whenever a telephone number is mentioned in a movie, play, or TV show, chances are that the number was furnished byBell.It’s an unworkable combination of numbers. The use of real telephone numbers in plays, novels, and the likeresulted many times in making people miserable almost from the day the phone was invented.A T V skit once suggested that if you dialed the letters of the word Penguin, you’d hear a Penguin squawk.
