They have kept this up for many years starring In long before Governor Cummins entered the office. J Annually. too, they have gone to Washington. In a vague sort of way It has been understood by the public that they had some hallucination about their land? inTama county. At first both the state of Iowa and the government were guardians of the Indians. Rome of their land was in the name of the Governor of Iowa as trustee and some in the nnme of the secretary of the interior at Washington as trustee. This double n latlonship bothered the Indiana and finally bills were put through the Iowa le#-islature and through congress as *SHj|providing and authorizing the governor of Iowa to deed what was held in trust byhim to the secretary of the faiarfor so that it would all be held under one trusteeship.
