Tlutl's Slum'I IIe’s Noblemen Find Thatrriling4iinJBreaking Their WayWhen you’re young and just starting out in the music business, you begin to wonder when and how your ‘breaks’will come.For tour young men from: Wickliffe, that first break came about a year ago when The News - Herald gave frej classified ads to high school students who wanted summer employment.Today, the teenage “Noblemen,’ Bob Kulon, Bob DePaul, Ralph Cicora and George Vra-b:l, in their black top hats, red ascots and white canes, have an ever growing list of advanced bookings and standing engagements.The ‘Noblemen,* who also have their own coat of arms, (have been guests on the Johnny Walter’s Big Five TV show, j They were one of the 24 bands chosen to play at the Chippewa i Lake Band Contest.TIIK NOBLEMENI • •four young men who love music, (fiom left) George Vrabel, Ralph CiThey've played at Wickliffe dances. South High’s Spring Festival, Kirtland Coronation and Graduation dances, St. Mary’s Graduation and CYO dances and teen dances in Mentor and Painesville at the YMCA.On April 10 they joined the Grasshoppers in the Parma UAW hall to play for a crowd of 3,000 teenagers.This Saturday and on May 1 they’ll provide the music for St. Joe’s Spring Mixer and Band Dance. -Every Friday beginning April 30 the ‘Noblemen’ will play for the ‘dance set' at Culp’s Surf-side Inn.May 8 they’ll play for St. Mary’s CYO.From May 29 through June 9 they have six bookings at the Kove, a teen ballroom in Orwell.cora, Bob Dcl'aul and Bob Kulon.And what do they do in their spare time? Rehearse, ofcourse!Bob Kulon, 16. plays lead guitar and does the arranging. Bob DePaul, 16, the tallest of the combo, plays the drums and Ralph Cicora, 15, fair haired, and the only blond in the group, plays rhythm guitar and George Vrabel, 16, plays bass guitar.Many of their songs are original with a distinctive twist beat. Ralph and Bob Kulon both write the music and do some ofthe lyrics. 4-With this kind of beginning who can tell what the future will hold for Wickliffe’s Noblemen!
