PYTHIAN 8I3TER CONVENTION.The twelfth convention of Pythian Sisters, Third district of tho state if Iowa, was held in Manchester at astle hall Friday. April 16. There were eight supreme and grand officers of the order present, and eleven delegates. The number of visiting Sisters was nearly fifty. •Tho lodge and dining rooms were beautifully decorated In the colors-of the order, while the parlors were prettily arranged. The chairman of committees were: Mrs. Martha Hall, executive: Mrs. Frances Clark, reception; Mrs. Elizabeth Harrla. entertainment; Mm. Ola Lewis. trains, and Mrs. Mae Sohin, supper.Tho vinltlng guests arrived on the morning and afternoon trains from various towns and cities in the district, and were escorted to the hall by members of the reception committee. The morning program Included tho enrollment of delegates, devotional exercises, an addresa o'f welcome by Mm. Hattie Peterson of Hypatia lodge, responded to by Mrs. Anna Beardsley of Oelwelfi, and a vocal solo by Mis3 Mildred Brown, accompanied by Miss Charlotte Atwater.In the afternoon, after tho business of the convention had been transacted, a vocal solo was sung by Miss Cnrrlo Wackorbarth of Independence, after which floor work was exemplified by the officers, installation drill, the Knight* Initiation drill. Mrs. Rebecca Robinson of Oelwoln spoke on work of the order, and a question box, conducted by Mrs. Mattie Johnston, grand chief, concluded the entertainment. Following the afternoon's program, the guests wore entertained by members of Hypatia ledge at their homes and in the temple.A very interesting program was given during the evening, when the ritullstlc work was exemplified by tho officers of tho Independence temple and staff of Hypatia temple. Mrs. Mary Horner of Waterloo and Mrs. Mattie Johnston of Knoxville were speakers of the evening, and an address given by Mrs. Nellie Mer-riam, supreme chief of Pythian Sisters of the United States, of Musko-gea. Oklahoma, with n soprano solo by ’.Mrs. M. J. Yorun, concluded the exorcises. The guests were* then Invited to the dining room, where refreshments were served. Tho tables were decorated with carnations, sml-lax and the colors of the order.Much credit Is due tho various committees appointed by Mrs. Peterson for their able management of the affair. Tho guests were accomodated at tho Clarence house and Colonial cafe. The merchants arid shop keepers about town united in making the visitors feel welcome by decorating their store windows with yellow, white, blue and red, and some were very artistically arranged.
