Appear Here For Checker Tourney on SaturdayNATHANIEL RUBINDetroit4Checker players from Cleveland, Akron, Detroit, Toledo and Flint, Mich., will make Sandusky their headquarters Saturday at Sloane Hotel in a combined chess and checker match.The feature match will be games between Nathaniel Rubin, Detroiter, the American junior checker champion, and Asa Dong, Toledo, twice win* ner of the American tournament title, both of whom are pictured above. They are expected to play on the big board in Washington park.Members of the Michigan checker team will be Louis deBearn, former champion of Canada; Fred O'Melay, Hillsdale, six-time champion of Michigan; Edward Ebert, state champion in 1925; Arthur Beisman, runnerup last year; Floyd Pennell of Flint, Dan MacRae of Port Huron and Bas Dell oC Grand Rapids.The Cleveland chess team will be lead by William F. Streeter, who will have the assistance of Elliott E. Stearns, E. R.‘Miller, Ervin Krisch, • Eric Anderson and, it is to be hoped, George H. Wolcott.The committee in charge of arrange-IASA LONGToledo♦ments at Sandusky is as follows: B. J. McGory, secretary of the American Checker Association; John G. Lillie, George L. Beare and Frank H. Ward, A banquet will take place at 6 o'clock at the Sloane Hotel, which is acting as host to the players.The players are expected to arrive in the city late Saturday afternoon. The matches will be played in the afternoon and two in the evening.The exact lineup for the Ohio players has not yet been determined as invitations have been sent’to them to play. The definite lineup to be decided upon when they arrive.
