Indian Powwow At Tama To Be Held Aug. 13 to 16TAMA. April 15.—lt; AP— Mesk-waki Indians on the Tama reservation will make native ‘'whoopee” Aug. 13 to 16. These dates have been chosen for the tribe’s annual powwow.Community development and the future Meskwaki nation will be emphasized at this year's celebration. Exhibits will picture the ancient Fox Indian settlement along the j Des Moines nver after the Black Hawk war in 1832. and their even- j tual retreat beyond the Missouri j river into Kansas.Ancient ceremonies, dances, and music will be reproduced. For more modern entertainment thete will be baseball, band concerts, races, bow and arrow contests, and i lacrosse games.
