Mrs.9i Smith was dorn in Kentucky in 1 SO** and came to .lacksonville in 1SU. She is the | mother of eight children, four of whom are now living, and one of whomis I Ion. tieorge W. smith, who has serv-i ed a term in thegeneral assembly of Illinois, and who has also been a member of the Jacksonville board of educationfor a number of vears. 1 here are thir-j teen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her husband died in 18H0, since which time Mrs. Smith has been tenderly cared for by her children. Thoie present las' evening sat d »wn to a sumptuous feast, which was spread on two large tables.
