The members of the group hope to ham similar luck.In addition to the 20 bands,there will be two dozen go-go girls. Or will the 20 bands be inaddition to the go-go girls?Publicity Chairman Jay Sharp thinks the latter. “Knowing the Penn man’s mentality, these girlswill be the main attraction,” he quipped. VThe leading go-go girl will beLynn Crackett, who holds the honor of being Miss Sepia America. She briefly made national headlines when she became the first Negro to ride in a float in Atlantic City’s Easter Parade.Miss Crackett will do the HotHula, the Tahitian Hula, the Hawaiian Hula, and the AtlanticCity Hula.The purpose of the all-star show and mixer is to get Skimmer off the ground, to produce a “Skimmer blast-off,” according to the Interfratemity Council, sponsor of the event.Tuesday at Hutchinson‘Battle of Bands' to Kick-off SkimmerBy MARK COHENComing! On April 18, at 7 p.m., there will be “largest assemblage of bands in the history of Philadelphia.” Twenty to be exact. They will compete for prizes and future fraternity parties: thus the event is billed “the Battle of theBands.” ££From Wibbage, there will be the Magic Mushrooms, as well as the Intruders. There will also beBrenda and the Fabulations, theMariner Four, who started last summer in Cape May, Jackie and the Manchesters — they give out books which Jackie won’t autograph — the Perfect Four, thePaper Train and the Chicago Blues BrigandsSTEADY BLAST *Plus eleven (!!!!!!!!!!!) lesser known groups. All the bands will play a variety of music: folk, rock.
