, i neiigious nay rut on for 1 birdI Time by Capable Seal HarborI Cast“The Rock,” by Mary Hamlin, aplay showing the character development of Simon Peter, and depictingBible scenes, with the story weaving in the day of Christ in the week ol Resurrection, was given for the thirdtime on Monday evening before a very large audience. The play, for whicha capable cast of Seal Harbor peoplehas long been preparing was given first on Easter Sunday at the Northeast Harbor Neighborhood House, the next Monday night at the Neighborhood Hall at Seai Harbor, andagain on Saturday evening in Seal Harbor. Theee presentations have beenso successful that already there is discussion relative to a fourth showing.I The cast is as follows: Simon, Doane Candage; Adina his wife, Mrs. Carl Carter; Deborah, his mother, Mrs.Fred MacKenzie; Ueal, their uncle, Paul D. Simpson; Mary of Magdalena, Mrs. Lincoln Dodge; Pandira, a Greek, Merton Pettee; Titus, the Roman officer, Loring Young; Agur, the physician, Eliphaiet Pettee; servants, doubling their roles, Mr. Young and Mr. Pettee.The stage was superbly set. The whole production was carried through with the dignity and the spirit of its lines, of the time and the place of itssetting, which showed that the cast and those who worked with thsm invarious ways for the success of theplay had done their work with exceptional understanding of the great difficulties and many demancs.The Rock might be called a religious drama and the time is 2 7 A. D.As literature it has received the commendation of many critics and Miss Hamlin’s beautiful lines were interpreted by the Seal Narbor cast in a manner which won high tribute from those whose opinion on such matters is worthwhile.At various points in ;re piay mere were high places whuh were reacheu and held, places the rasuai reader of the score wouId have s; :«i Could only be played by professionals.
