Public Service Is Their Bag‘DEVOTED’ GROUP — The soundharriers are (from left) Ron Plante, lead guitar; Craig Dcisrulli (kneel* Ing), guitar; Roy Cut shall, base guitar; Boh Fee, drums; Brace Ban ion, guitar; Wendy Brener and KarenI lull n, go-go girls.Seven Levitt own and Fairlcss Hills teenagers are making such a big name for themselves that President Nixon has heard about them.Known as the Sound Barriers, the five lads and two go-go girls do not reserve their talent for entertaining at dances, although they do enjoy playing for dances.Nor are they necessarily glory-seekers, even though tliey won first prize and $500 in a battle of the bands sponsored in February by the Bucks County Mall and won second place in the recent battlc of the Kinds sponsored by the Vardley-Lowcr Mnkefield .laycees.Worthy CauseBut public service is really their bag. They are among other unique persons in the entertainment world—people like Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Hope and Jerry Lewis—who will go almost anywhere and perform for a worthy cause.The Sound Barriers entertain once a month at Walson Army Hospital at Ft. Dix., N.J, Last month they rocked the Philadelphia Naval Hospital, the Valley Forge Military Hospital and the Trenton USO.This month they will play at five parlies in the Penndei American Legion Home for wounded servicemen from area military hospitals.Clean-Cut GroupA clean-cut, handsome group, the Sound Barriers are: go-go girls Karen Kuhn and Wendy Brewer, both 15 and freshmen at Delhaas High School, Bristol Township; Bruce Lamon, 17, and Craig Deis-roth, 3G both of Levittown; Ron Plante, 17, Roy Cuishall, 16, Bob Fee 16 all of Fairless Hills.
