EVE.or Iid i to er nThe Gilliland band will come to Kent April 15, to do what good it can to promote good music, to help and inspire the Roosevelt band, to assist the music memory teams and to entertain the public. The Gilliland bandis exceptional from that of most per-minantly located organizations in and that, the conductor, Bradford Gilliland, is nationally known, a composer and a very fine conductor, the members all of which have a professional back ground of average or better, and that the organization was organized and mantained for the sole pur-1 pose of playing good music for the experience and satisfaction of its members and others concerned.Novello Jones Freed, mezzo so-1 prano, will present two song groups accompanied by the band. Few sopranos can sing with a Band effective* a i ly, but Novello Jones Freed possesses: *1.1 a strong but pleasing voice of unusual quality, and is one of a few whose voice blends and carries well with band accompanyment.The Gilliland band will play the state school band contest numbers, selected numbers from the musicmemory list, as well as give a demon-; stration upon some of the instruments not so well knowm for the benefit of the memory teams.Proceeds will help pay for some of the new high school band instruments, and it is our wish that you come. 1PROGRAMte Roosevelt Auditorium April 15, 1929i-, 1.
