Mrs.Marta rlanr was a great sufferer from rheumatism and for sonic years had hern unable to walk, even about the house. Though deprived of i he pleasure of mingling with her friends. whose numbers were legion, which, next to her family, was her ^hief enjoyment, she maintained her P..my disposition.To those who had visited her in her home and were acquainted with the? sutYerering she underwent, her happy disposition and cheerfulnesswas a marvel. The last time Mrs.Ataefarlane left her home was when, 9M had been their customfor years, the family dined at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. James Grant, on the anniversary of the lattsr’s wedding anniversary.Tuesday Mrs. Maefarlane’s condition became much worse and she lostconsciousness, regaining it only for a few minutes Thursday, when she bid her family good-live.Mrs. Marfarlane was horn nStevenson, Ayrshire County, Scotland, in 1858, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Grant. In 18 70. with her parents and sisters, she came to this country and the family settled in liar ton. After residing there for three years the family removed to Hancock,Was h ington CountyIn 1 882 thevcame to Cumberland, where they have since resided.In I8t*4 the deceased was married to John B. Maefaiiane. who. with four children, survives. The c hildren are Miss Mary IT, James G , William D.. and Miss Margaret.Mrs. Macfarlane Is also survived 1\her parents and the* following sisters and brothers: Mrs. |«\ o. Spain, Atlanta. Ga.; Mrs, F. G. Crane, West Collinawood, N. J.; John K Grant. Vancouver, B. C.t and Albert C. Giantand Mrs. C. VV. Fries, both of this city.The funeral will be held on Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock, with services at the home, North Gee street, conducted by Rev. Dr. James E, Mot-fatt. pastor of the local Presbyterian church. Interment will be inHose Hill Cemtery.!
