Norconians role in sculpture toldNorconians played a significant role in getting the new Corona library sculpture where it is today.Although designed by an artist, Maxine Piester, it was not made by a sculptor. It was made by Gloria Bilotta’s nephew-a welder who's attending Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo.Gloria is a Norco artist and member of the Corona Art Association.Brad Cozad, the 24-year-old nephew, constructed the work in his back yard at night. It took two years to put together the 36 pieces that went into the sculpture. “Three Facets of Man, which looks now as though it has only four parts because of his welding skill.Three of the parts are shaped like inverted cones, each a different height. They are circled by a cadmium platedpiece of iron which Cozad had to bend so it could circle all three points.Gloria and husband, Joe, drove to San Luis Obispo about a month ago and brought the 400-pound work back in four pieces. That’s when the-Bilotta’s son, Jon, 15, came into the picture. He’s had metal shop at Norco High and was able to weld the three pieces to the base and set the ring on top.Then came a trip to Corona to make a pattern of the pedestal prepared at the library so bolt holes could be drilled. That took three trips . because they wouldn't work out. Finally, they took the whole sculpture to Corona and set it on the pedestal, drilling the holes on the site.All it took was a borrowed pickup and a number of muscular teenagers to make _t haLli na Lmo_Ye_th e_da y_hefore_ last week’s dedication.
