Finder Of Prize Egg At Last Year’s Hunt Hopes For ’49 Award“I'rh going to get there early this year!So said Ronald Stokely. who found the golden goose egg at the annual Retail Merchants Association Easter Egg Hunt last year at Armco Park.“I got there kind-of-late last year — in fact — 1 wasn’t going but a couple of my buddies talked me into it.’ The park had been open about an hour before we got there and they had really cleaned out the eggs that were hid-' den because we searched a long time and didn’t find a one,“It was about 3:30 p.m. when .they announced a hint over the loud speaker system. They said the egg was hidden near the little house on the hill.“THERE WAS A dash up the hill to the workers shack. he continued, “and a man just in front of me turned over a piece of metal that looked like a trash can. He found nothing, but when I turned over a second piece ofmetal, there she was, the President Dempster Special.Ronald took the egg to Roy Patterson Merchant’s Secretary who was paying off the premiums and collected the top I prize for the day, $5. He was Iallowed to keep the egg as a I token of his success as an explorer and for a couple of t months it had a prized position ron a shelf in his room. tBut one day Ronald had f to choose between sentiment and comfort. The egg , had been cracked a little and the Innards were becoming ripe and odiforous. t Sentiment lost and Ronald de- j cided he’d try hard this year to replace his prize object and the { monetary compensation it , brought with it.So — Ronald has made definite plans to be at the scene of | the hunt again and, even if he is not successful as last year he i still has a newspaper clipping lt;in his wallet which acclaims lt;him champion Easter Egg sleuth for 1943.JUST A REMINDER of a past success, Ronald Stokley, 13-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. French Stokely of ISIS Meadow Ave., is shown above with the newspaper announcement of the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Armco Park. Ronald found the golden egg last year and was five dollars and a large gilted goose egg richer. Nature's deterioration forced him to part with the egg, when it began to take on an odor after being cracked.
