PEAKS ISLAND, Maine (AP — Officials are investigating fires over the weekend that caused an estimated $85,000 damage to three houses on this island while the community’s new fire engine was back on the mainland.Officials said two of the fires, which broke out late Friday and Saturday, mayhave been arson.The island's 1,000-gallon pumper was shipped to an auto dealership in Portland about three weeks ago for warranty work It was scheduled to make the 15-minute ferry trip back to the island Friday, but was delayed until Saturday.
