LOCAL COUNCIL. OF WOMEN.The annual meeting of the Local Council tf Women was held Friday afternoon at the Y.M.C.A., the Preai-dent, Mrs. Donald McEwen, being in the chair. The report lor the past year was read by the recording secretary, Mrs. J. D. Watts, showing that members had taken an interest in and actively supported matters which had appealed to them as citizens. The introduction of women as trustees on the School Board they felt to be a step in the right direction having regard to the number of gins and youug children and lady teachers in the public schools.In the unavoiuaoie absence of Mrs. McKellar, the ereasurer, the financial statement was read, which showed a very small balance in hand, but this state of affairs was received in an optimistic spirit as the association
