Merle Jackson Is Bound Over To Grand JuryAUGUSTA (AP) - Merle Jackson, 38, has been bound over to the grand jury on a charge of aggravated assault on his son-in-law, Richard H. Goodall.Jackson allegedly fired a shot at or near Goodall early Monday and was taken into custody by police without a struggle after a tear gas barrage failed to force him from his home outside the city.Jackson’s eight children were in the house with Goodall when the rifle shot was fired. Nobody was injured.District Court Judge Roland J. Poulin found the assault to be of an aggravated nature, which made it a felony charge, and held Jackson in $10,000. Jackson, who pleaded innocent, was taken to jail until he provides bonds.
