The case was brought by Chief of Police E. J. lies and others against Willard Jase, Walter Jase and Edith Jase.The plaintiffs alleged in their petition that the place conducted by the defendants at the corner of Third and Church streets was searched by the police on March (, where they found gamblintr games in progress, and that Walter Jase later pleaded guilty to the charge, and was sentenced thereunder; that the place is nothing less than a gambling den and a general rendezvous for negro gamblers and that it is a public nuisance which should be abated.Chief lies and Patrolmen Carbo and Ardoin were the only witnesses who testified on the part of the plaintiffs, after which Judge Hooe rendered judgment perpetuating the injuction sued out, which will have the effect of closing the place for one year.Chief lies announces that the law under which this abatement suit was brought, also applies to all gambling houses, assignation houses and all other resorts, which can be shown to be nuisances.—Alexandria Town Talk.n
