ORPHAN ASYLUM. I1It it hoped that the public oI Cincinnati and ita ( vicinity, will take a deep interest mi this propoaed in- t ititutMM. We have been requested to insert the sub- r joined notice from the Township Trustee*, concern* ir*C •* It,v* 10 !h*t all the papers of the city, will ,1 girt it au insertion in the course of next week. rThe Book* for subscriptions and donations for the * the Cincinnati Orphan Asylum, w ill be opened on F Monday, the 15th inst., for the purpose of receiving k subtciiptiof.s preparatory to organising this Inslitu- r tiun. The law provides that, every male person who 1 shall subsrr.be and pay annually f, and even fe- 1 male who shal! subscribe and pay £3, shall be and * remain members so long as their subscriptions are f punctually paid ;—and that, every male f*r*oo who 1 shall pay $58, and every female who shall pay $3tl, shall tie members during life. The Trustees will re- r main in the Council Chamber from 10 o’clock A. M. 1 to 12o’clock M.—and from 3 to 5 o'clock P. M., a each day during the week to receive subscriptions.— n No j»eraon will be eligible to vote for managers, who o has not paid an annual or life subscription. The amanagers art to be females. SIn a community like ours, that have always ex- )i reeded the exigency, when appealed to, in favor of ii the suffering, it would seem, at the first impression, r unnecessary to endeavor to stimulus tnem to action p on the present occasion. But w hen we consider the b magnitude and iin|»ortaiice of the Insttutkm, wa c cannot forbear soliciting t» e united aid and influence U of every clast and denomination of rititens. I gThe Orphan Asylum, planned as it is, by the Le- c gislature, will be under no sectarian mflucn e of any * g kind in its government, but will be a strictly moral u institution. Founded, as it is, on a permanent basis, i it needs only the fostering hand of the benevolent, to I v produce the most beneficial results. It will, if pro^r- , c erly conducted, take cognizance of vice in its embryo j ^ state, redeem from rum, and send forth for useful-: f ness. Here tlie deprived and unfortunate, who are n without friends to guide them in the paths of virtue, I ^ will find an abode w here moral principles and industrious habits will be inculcated—virtue cherished, and vice repressed; and will go forth into the world with characters that will introduce them into respectable society ; and instead of being supported in prisons and hospitals, will bear a part of the public burthens. We ask you, as a community, to reflect for a moment, and cast your eyes around you as you pass the streets, and visit the prisons and see the juvenile delinquents there, and then say whether you do not see objects which might in all probability have been reclaimed, but that it is now too late; and whether to prevent their recurrence for the future you will not exert your best abilities to establish an institution that will, in ail probability, hate that effect.tAJsa.W.
