FIRST ANNUAL AlCARNIVAL HELD ClAT MIDDLETOWNA p p r o x i mately 1,000 Marched In Masked Parade ti Saturday Night.P2,0Large crowds attended the first annual carnival of the Middletown Volunteer Fire Company held In the countytown Friday and Saturday. The carnival was featured by a masked parade Friday • night through ihe main street and a more formal parade Saturday evening, which was participated in by organizations from many other nearby towns. It was estimated that approximately 1,000 were in hue Saturday night and from 3.000 to 5.000 watched the procession. Prizes were aw-arded each eveningThe parade Saturday night climaxed the carnival, which had its inception Friday. Headed by two state policemen the procession started at Prospect street, moved to the cast end of the town, returned over the main street to the westTaudSLPhiley.conadsfiscTwofPRtntcon*3YOUCOScouSiO!mdclueedge and then back to Washington wa.street, where it disbanded In the line of march were two fire companies from this city, the Independents and TJmteds. The carnival grounds resembled the “midway” at the fair grounds, according to one resident who believed the concessionaires had stopped off in Middletown on their way to the Frederick Fair, which opens Tuesday The carnival was in charge of a committee from the fire company, ot which Albert Boileau was general chairman It is planned to make the carnival an annual affair
